Monsters begin terrorizing Tokyo again. Takkong gets into a big fight with Zazahn in the Bay of Tokyo and wins, and then proceeds to knock the town upside down.  The Monster Attack Team (aka MAT) is unable to stop him. Hideki Goh, an auto mechanic and aspiring racecar driver from Sakata Auto Repair, is fatally wounded by falling rubble when he tries to protect a young boy who insists on saving his stranded dog. However, an invisible force causes Takkong to eventually retreat. Though MAT's Captain Katoh and the Sakata siblings accompany Goh to the hospital, he dies on his bed.

The mysterious invisible force turns out to be New Ultraman, who cannot stay on Earth for extended periods of time. Moved by Goh's courageous self-sacrifice, Ultraman merges with the deceased human, which will allow him to stay on Earth indefinitely.

Everyone is surprised by Goh's resurrection, including Sakata, who has just finished burning his new race car as an offering to the dead. Captain Katoh comes by to recruit Goh into MAT for being such a brave person.

Goh has heightened perception because of his merger with Ultraman, and is drawn to the village where monster Earthtron emerges. Ultraman defeats him with his Specium Beam.

His overconfidence in his new abilities makes him unable to transform into Ultraman at will. Goh is booted out of MAT for insubordination and decides to return to his old job, but he receives the cold shoulder from Sakata for some reason. Goh realizes that he has been conceited of late.

Takkong once again shows up, and attacks an oil refinery this time. Katoh sees Goh run with all his might to the scene, and has a change of heart.

Having lost his own father in a mountaineering accident as a child, Goh comes after the Captain. To make matters worse, a second monster shows up and begins fighting with Sadolar.

King Saurus the 3rd attacks nuclear plants to feed his appetite for uranium. New Ultraman is unable to defeat him... the monster's barrier deflects all of Ultraman's weapons, including the Specium Ray, the Ultra Slash, Fog Beam, and Cinerama Shot (this is the only instance in which he uses the latter two weapons). KS3's horns cause significant damage to Ultraman's leg, and our hero disappears after his Color Timer runs out.

Goh spends an eternity training his body to prepare for a rematch, and finally perfects the "Shooting Star Kick." When KS3 once again emerges, New Ultraman jumps over the barrier and uses the Shooting Star Kick to break off KS3's horns.

Has a uranium diet. Breathes a radioactive beam and has sharp horns that generate an impenetrable barrier. Though the numeric designation may imply that this is his third time around, this is KS3's memorable first and only incarnation.

Episode 5
Two Big Monsters Attack Tokyo

NI-DAI-KAIJUH TOHKYOH O SHUHGEKI
4/30/1971

At a construction site in Shinjuku, an oval-shaped fossil is unearthed. Soon thereafter, monster Gudon also appears in Tokyo. It turns out the fossil is Gudon's favorite lunch, the egg of Twin Tail. The egg grows, and Aki gets trapped in an underground shopping mall as a result. MAT wants to save Aki, but Commander Kishida (MAT team member Kishida's uncle) insists that the egg be torched immediately. Twin Tail hatches. New Ultraman gets into a three-way fighting match with the monsters, but is literally whipped into submission, runs out of energy as the sun sets, and uselessly disappears.

Episode 6
Battle! Monsters vs. MAT

KESSEN! KAIJUH TAI MATTO
5/7/1971

Out of power, Jack fades away. To defeat the monsters, Commander Kishida decides that MAT must use the Spiner, a bomb with a destructive force comparable to that of a small hydrogen bomb.

Aki is rescued and is stuck in a hospital. With obvious concern for the welfare of the good citizens of Tokyo, especially the immobilized Aki, MAT takes it upon themselves to defeat the mosnters on their own. Riding around in jeeps, they manage to destroy Twin Tail's eyes with the MAT Bazooka. New Ultraman joins the fray, and Gudon manages kill Twin Tail before being vanquished himself by Ultraman's Specium Ray.

Ancient Monster TWIN TAIL
KODAI KAIJUH TSUIN TEHRU
45 meters / 15,000 tons
Place of origin: Construction site in Shinjuku, Tokyo
True to his name, has two whip-like tails, which he uses to strangle his enemies. Ranks as one of the more unique Ultra monsters, and is one of the best-known and loved from this series. His head is toward the ground (useful for nipping at heels), with his body reaching vertically toward the sky and ending with two lethal whips. The "human" features of the suit actor are cleverly disguised. Twin Tail is also able to arch backwards so that the tails can be used to propel the rest of the body.

Underground Monster GUDON
CHITEI KAIJUH GUDON
50 meters / 25,000 tons
Place of origin: #2 of quarry of Okutama Feasts on Twin Tail. Has two whip arms (from an evolutionary standpoint, I find it interesting that hunter and prey developed similar fighting appendages). A rather non-descript monster that probably would have faded into relative obscurity if it were not forever linked with Twin Tail in fans' minds.

Episode 7
Operation Rainbow Monster

KAIJUH REINBOH SAKUSEN
5/14/1971

Having a knack for discovering monsters, little Jiroh inadvertently captures monster Golbagos on film while taking a photograph of Goh and Aki while they are hiking in the mountains. This monster normally hides out using camouflage.

MAT makes him visible by using multi-colored paint bombs.

Invisible Monster GOLBAGOS
TOHMEI KAIJUH GORUBAGOSU
45 meters / 18,000 tons
Place of origin: Jigoku-dani (Hell Canyon) of the Tanzawa mountain range
Nocturnal monster that becomes violent at night. Camouflages skin color to match surroundings, much like a chameleon does. Spits fireballs.

Episode 8
Monster Time Bomb

KAIJUH JIGEN BAKUDAN
5/21/1971

With an "X-bullet" lodged in his tail, Ghostron heads toward a dynamite factory. To make the scenario interesting, the bomb is set to explode in twelve hours.

Bomb Monster Ghostron
BAKUDAN KAIJUH GOHSUTORON
55 meters / 44,000 tons

Place of origin: Ohzuki Canyon
A laid back monster who moves slowly and likes to take lots of naps. Magma beam from mouth.
